Why draining and access matter more than distance

• Draining and disconnection — the tub must be fully drained and unhooked from power/plumbing before movers arrive (or booked as part of the service).
• Access path — narrow side-yard gates, stairs, and pool decking often mean the crew has to lift and maneuver by hand rather than roll the tub on a dolly the whole way.
• Crew size — 4+ movers is typical, since the shell can crack under uneven point-loading if only 2 people carry it.
• Straps and dollies — proper equipment protects both the tub's shell and your property (decks, door frames, lawns) along the path.

Long-distance hot tub moves

For cross-country moves, hot tubs are usually crated or heavily padded and shipped via a specialty freight carrier rather than carried the whole way by the same crew that disconnects it — plan for a longer lead time than a local move.

How to keep the cost down

• Drain and disconnect it yourself in advance if you're comfortable doing so (check your tub's manual) — some movers discount for this.
• Clear and measure your access path (gate width, step count) before booking so quotes aren't revised on move day.
• Ask specifically whether reassembly/refilling at the destination is included or a separate line item.
