Antique furniture combines two cost drivers most movers charge extra for: real weight (solid wood, marble tops, cast iron) and fragility (veneer, glass, aged joints, clock mechanisms). Specialty movers pad, crate and blanket-wrap rather than shrink-wrap.
| Type | Typical weight | Estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Single small piece (dresser, nightstand) | 75-150 lb | $495–$700 |
| Grandfather / longcase clock | 150-250 lb | $825–$1,165 |
| Large cabinet (armoire, wardrobe, china cabinet) | 250-400 lb | $1,070–$1,515 |
| Full antique furniture set / collection | varies | $1,320–$1,860 |
For a large cabinet (armoire, wardrobe, china cabinet), expect roughly $1,070–$1,515 over the 660-mile move.
Long-distance specialty movers often combine multiple items on one truck run, so the per-mile rate drops as the route gets longer — short moves pay a premium for a dedicated trip.
